ORACAL 651 is a medium-term vinyl, perfect for indoor and outdoor lettering, marking and decorations.

It can provide up to six years of outdoor durability and has dogged built-in resistance against shrinking, cracking, and peeling.

Oracal 651 vinyl is known for being easy to weed and transfer, qualities that have established it as the roll of choice for many crafts enthusiasts: both intermediates and beginners.

The 651 series is so popular that it is often bundled with the popular Silhouette Cameo 3 and Cricut Explore Air 2 cutting machines.

You can buy these vinyl rolls in packs of one, in bundles of multiple colors, or in starter packs containing dozens of small sheets.

In our guide below, we will show you the various colors available in the Oracal 651 series, as well as some of the best deals and wholesale discounts from around the web.

Let’s get right into it.

What is Oracal 651 Vinyl?

If you’re brand new to the world of vinyl cutting, you’re probably wondering what on earth we’re talking about when we say ‘oracal vinyl’.

Oracal is simply a vinyl brand that make some of the best and most durable vinyl on the market right now.

Oracal vinyl is made by ORAFOL Americas Inc, a company that specialise in cast and calendered self adhesive vinyl. As well as making vinyl perfect for your home projects, they also make it suitable for car wrapping, for laminating films, sign making and much more.

Oracal 651 is just one of their products. Let’s take a look at what else they offer:

  • Oracal 631: Economy cast, 60 colors, gloss finish, 3 years indoor durability
  • Oracal 641: Economy cast, 70 colors, matte finish, 3 years indoor durability
  • Oracal 651: Intermediate cast, 63 colors, gloss finish, 6 years durability
  • Oracal 6510: Economy cast, 6 colors, 1 year exterior durability

Other Types of Oracal Vinyl

The 651 Series has become the industry standard for high performance calendared films, but Orafol has additional options available…

Here are some more popular casts that might interest you:

631 Series
This is more of a lightweight film, with a matte surface, that lasts for 3 years. It is described as an ideal choice for temporary and short-term indoor graphics, for events such as tradeshows, displays and exhibitions.

The SignOutlet store has 49 colors available.

If it’s black vinyl you are looking for, check this excellent deal on Amazon for a 12″ x 10 ft roll of Matte Oracal 631.

951 Series
This is super high performance vinyl, perfect for any kind of long term lettering or high quality vehicle graphics.

It’s considerably more expensive and would be considered overkill for hobbyists, but if you need a commercial or industrial-standard solution, the 951 series is up to the task. It can handle just about all conditions, including severe weather and long-term wear.

This series is usually sold in rolls of 15 inches by 10 yards, and the best deals can be had through the SignOutlet store (951 section) or by scouring Amazon for your color of choice.

Our favorite deal is the 5 rolls package. It typically sells slightly more expensive than the larger bundles, but allows us to pick out only the colors we need.

The Oracal 651 Starter Pack

If you’re just getting started with your Cameo or Cricut machine, one of the things you will appreciate is this vinyl starter kit.

Once you progress beyond the basics, you will no doubt start buying rolls in your preferred colors. And lots of them.

But for beginners, the 651 starter pack provides an excellent selection of 63 glossy self-adhesive vinyl sheets. That’s all the colors in the Oracal 651 chart!

They are measured 12″ by 12″ with 70 micron thickness — the perfect size for your desktop vinyl cutter.

The colors include:

Transparent, white, golden yellow, signal yellow, yellow, light yellow, brimstone yellow, purple red, burgundy, dark red, red, light red, orange red, orange, light orange, pastel orange, purple, violet, lavender, lilac, pink, soft pink, deep sea blue, steel blue, dark blue, cobalt blue, king blue, brilliant blue, blue, traffic blue, gentian blue, gentian, azure blue, sky blue, light blue, ice blue, turquoise blue, turquoise, mint, dark green, forest green, green, grass green, light green, yellow green, lime-tree green, brown, nut brown, light brown, beige, cream, black, Dark grey, grey, telegrey, middle grey, light grey, silver grey, gold, copper, imitation gold.

The Oracal 651 Starter Pack is a nice starter kit that is also useful as an emergency supply of rare colors needed for odd jobs here and there.

Good to have tucked away!

Wholesale Prices?

Vinyl rolls can be purchased at huge discounts if you are willing to buy in bulk from China.

Take a look at the vinyl rolls on Alibaba, for example.

Through this marketplace (the world’s largest!), you can pick up the Oracal 651 series wholesale for as low as $1 per roll.

The downside is that you will often be stuck with a minimum order value of $1000, whilst having to arrange shipping from China, with product quality that is by no means guaranteed. Alibaba is a great place to source wholesale discounts, but it’s not what we’d call suitable for the hobbyist.

Unless you are planning on launching your own vinyl rolls business, we’d stick to Amazon and other trusted US retailers.

Beyond Oracal Vinyl

Of course, while we highly recommend 651 vinyl, the products available to you certainly don’t start and end with Oracal.

There are plenty of other vinyl brands available online and instore, and we’d encourage you to try as much as possible to work out what’s best for you.

Quality can vary quite wildly — the biggest complaint we have of cheap vinyl is that it shrinks over time, peels away, fade in color and even disintegrates.

Here’s a few other brands that we recommend:

Siser Easyweed
When you’re experimenting with heat transfer vinyl, your go-to brand should always be Siser EasyWeed. This vinyl stays true to it’s name: it’s easy to weed. Plus it’s high quality and durable. These bundles offer the best value for money:

Cricut Vinyl
As you might expect from such a well-recognized brand, Cricut isn’t necessarily the cheapest vinyl on the market, but it is assuredly high quality. You can’t buy the same huge bundles of Cricut vinyl like you can with other brands (at least, we haven’t seen it sold like this), but we do really like the sampler packs that they offer in different themes and colors. These generally offer great value for money. Here are a few of our favorites:
